With the opening ceremony just three days away, the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games will feature seven sports offering qualification spots for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Athletes in archery, hockey, squash, surfing, sailing, tennis, and triathlon will first compete in Nagoya for a shot at the LA Olympics.

First, the winning men's and women's hockey teams at this Asian Games will advance directly to the LA Olympic main tournament, which features 12 countries.

Archery will put eight LA Olympic qualification spots on the line.

Quotas will be distributed to the 1st and 2nd place finishers in the men's and women's recurve individual events (four spots), the winning nations of the recurve mixed team event (one spot each for men and women, totaling two), and the winning nations of the compound mixed team event (one spot each for men and women, totaling two).

In tennis, players ranked within the top 500 in the world rankings will secure an LA Olympics ticket if they win the men's or women's singles events at the Asian Games.

The winners of the men's and women's dinghy races in sailing, the winners of the men's and women's individual squash events, and the winners of the men's and women's shortboard surfing events will also earn LA Olympics qualification spots.

The gold medalists in the men's and women's triathlon will likewise earn berths at the LA Olympics, where 55 athletes will compete in each event.
