Four Korean beef cattle escaped from a barn in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province, yesterday (September 15) and roamed the streets.

According to fire authorities and other sources, at 2:15 p.m. that day, four head of cattle, including a mother cow and two calves, escaped from a barn in Hwajeong-ri, Chaeun-myeon, Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province.

Multiple reports were subsequently filed with the 119 and 112 emergency response centers, stating that "cattle are running on the road" and "cattle have escaped."

Dragging their heavy bodies, the mother cow and calves wandered aimlessly along village paths.

According to witnesses, the cattle even made their way to a road toward the Korea Army Training Center in Yeonmu-eup, where vehicle traffic is frequent, and began roaming the streets while weaving between cars.

Some of the calves pranced and ran down the road, pausing to catch their breath in front of a cluster of restaurants beside the street.

It was reported that vehicles in the area turned on their hazard lights and slowed down upon the appearance of the cattle.

The owner of the cattle, fire authorities, and police dispatched to the scene controlled part of the road to prevent safety accidents. Meanwhile, a rescue vehicle from Station 119 carefully approached the cattle and blocked their path, narrowing their escape radius.

The cattle were then herded from the middle of the road toward a quiet path at the entrance of a nearby village to prevent injury, where the mother cow and two calves were safely captured.

Kim, a 29-year-old who spotted the cattle while driving to attend a completion ceremony at the Korea Army Training Center that day, said, "After driving for about five minutes leaving behind the mother cow and two running calves, another cow appeared right in front of my car."

According to fire authorities, the remaining one cow has currently disappeared from sight.

An official from the 119 rescue team stated, "It appears that the remaining one cow has moved away from the road," adding, "We are currently confirming that there have been no injuries to the cattle or additional accidents such as traffic crashes related to the escape."
