South Korea's 2nd Vice Foreign Minister Kim Jin-ah visited the Army's 11th Maneuver Division training ground in Yangpyeong today (the 15th) alongside the diplomatic corps in South Korea from 15 countries to observe the operational sites of our military's main weapon systems, including the K2 tank and K21 infantry fighting vehicle.

This event was held in connection with the demonstration unit training for "Army TIGER," the Army's future-type combat system.

The 11th Maneuver Division showcased the firing and maneuvering capabilities of the K2 tank and K21 infantry fighting vehicle, and introduced various weapon systems such as the K600 obstacle clearance vehicle and reconnaissance drones.

The diplomatic corps visiting the site showed high interest in the performance and operational methods of each weapon system.

The diplomats successively asked questions about the capacity of the K2 tank and the cruising range of the armored vehicle, and some even boarded the equipment themselves.


Today's event was attended by the diplomatic corps from 15 countries, including Philippe Lafortune, Canadian Ambassador to South Korea; Paul Fernando Duclos Parodi, Peruvian Ambassador to South Korea; Zakariya Hamed Hilal Al Saadi, Omani Ambassador to South Korea; and Bartosz Wi‚niewski, Polish Ambassador to South Korea.

Vice Minister Kim stated, "The trust of partner countries in South Korea and its defense industry has served as an important foundation for the substantial growth of South Korea's defense industry over the past decades," adding, "Our government hopes to continue building defense partnerships based on trust and a robust cooperative relationship moving forward."

This marks the third time the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has hosted a defense site visit for the diplomatic corps in South Korea, following a visit to the 8th Maneuver Division in Pocheon in 2023 and defense manufacturing plants in Changwon and Sacheon last year.
