Incheon City, together with the Marine Corps Headquarters, held a commemorative event marking the 76th anniversary of the Incheon Landing Operation.

Incheon Mayor Park Chan-dae and Marine Corps Commandant Joo Il-seok held a wreath-laying ceremony this morning (the 15th) at the statue of General Douglas MacArthur in Jayu Park to honor the contributions of the heroes who led the Incheon Landing Operation to success.

Following this, a commemorative ceremony held at the Sangsang Platform was attended by some 1,000 people, including war veterans, bereaved families, and Marine Corps service members, to reflect on the historical significance of the Incheon Landing Operation.

Today's event featured a musical performance vividly portraying the tense moments of that time and the sacrifices of the heroes, a grand entry ceremony of the flags of the participating nations, and the reading of a retrospective address. After the ceremony, citizens continued to visit the Citizen Peace Experience Zone.

Incheon Mayor Park Chan-dae said in his commemorative speech, "76 years ago today, Incheon was a stage of miracle that changed the course of South Korea's history and a bastion safeguarding freedom and peace. We will deeply cherish the noble spirit of the war veterans and do our utmost in what Incheon must do for the peace and prosperity of the Korean Peninsula."
