An elderly man with gray hair, his hands clasped behind his back, emerges from an alley and waits for someone on the main street.

A short while later, he gets into a physical altercation with another man who was pulling a bicycle, and then hurriedly flees.

Around 8:20 p.m. last night (September 13), an 80-something man, surnamed A, swung a weapon at a man in his 70s in Jeonnong-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul.

The incident happened less than a minute after they encountered each other.

The man in his 70s sustained severe injuries to his neck and abdomen, but fortunately, he is reportedly not in life-threatening condition.

Mr. A fled after discarding the weapon near the crime scene, but was caught red-handed by the dispatched police.

Mr. A, who wielded the weapon, was apprehended by the police about 10 minutes after the crime, roughly 600 meters away.

It was reported that the two men knew each other and had previously gotten into an argument at a nearby tea house, prompting a police dispatch earlier.

A restaurant employee nearby who witnessed the incident chased after the fleeing Mr. A and helped police apprehend him by providing his physical description and escape route.

The police are considering requesting an arrest warrant for attempted murder while planning to deliver a letter of appreciation to the restaurant employee who helped in the arrest.
