Independent Representative Han Dong-hoon protested on September 14, pointing out that Progressive Party Representative Son Sol requested "Representative Han Dong-hoon's campaign finance report" from the National Election Commission (NEC) as data for the confirmation hearing of Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won, asking, "Does this make any sense?"

Writing on Facebook that day, Han stated, "Under the pretext of 'data requests for the Kim Seung-won hearing,' Representative Son, who won her proportional representation seat with the support of the Democratic Party, requested 'Han Dong-hoon's campaign finance report' from the NEC, and the NEC handed it over."

Han continued, "What connection does the 'Kim Seung-won hearing' have with 'Han Dong-hoon's campaign finance report' for Representative Son to demand it and the NEC to release it? Is the NEC retaliating against me for proposing the three-bill reform package for the election commission?"

He emphasized, "As a member of the National Assembly, I will request the campaign finance reports of Democratic Party members such as Seo Young-kyo and Son Sol from the NEC," adding, "Together with the public, I will watch to see if the NEC hands them over just as readily as they did mine."

Criticism from the People Power Party also emerged regarding Representative Son's data request concerning Han.

Yoon Sang-hyun, a five-term veteran lawmaker of the People Power Party, posted on Facebook, "This is an 'attack on Han Dong-hoon' by the Democratic Party and the pan-ruling bloc that has completely missed the mark," pointing out, "Tomorrow is the confirmation hearing for nominee Kim, not the 'Han Dong-hoon hearing.'"

He added, "If there is so much you want to ask Representative Han, you should adopt him as a witness for the hearing," and asked, "If you attack him outside while refusing to place him on the witness stand to verify the facts, who would find that reasonable?"

Park Jeong-ha, a lawmaker close to Han Dong-hoon, also criticized on Facebook, asking, "Why on earth is Representative Han's finance report necessary? Is Representative Han the nominee for Justice Minister?" He added, "Has the NEC joined the Prime Minister's Office in the queue to keep tabs on Representative Han?"

Meanwhile, Han announced that he filed a criminal complaint that day against Democratic Party Representative Park Sun-won for violating the Public Interest Whistleblower Protection Act, alleging that Park outed (forcibly revealed the identity of) a public interest whistleblower related to suspicions of lobbying for clinical trial approval of a new drug by nominee Kim.

Lawmaker Park Jung-hoon, who is aligned with the pro-Han faction, joined in filing the complaint.

Han wrote on Facebook, "Even if Representative Park Sun-won and the Democratic Party out and attack the public interest whistleblower, they cannot cover up Kim Seung-won's 'oppa poison lobbying,'" and demanded, "The police must immediately take measures to protect the whistleblower's safety."
