The Daegu District Court's Criminal Division 8, presided over by Judge Kim Mi-kyung, announced today (September 14) that it has sentenced a man in his 20s, identified as Defendant, to eight months in prison on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, Etc. of Sexual Crimes after disguising himself as a woman to enter a public bathhouse.

The court also ordered Defendant to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program and imposed a three-year employment restriction at institutions related to children, adolescents, and people with disabilities.

Defendant was put on trial for tricking a counter employee at a sauna in Jung-gu, Daegu, on April 12 of last year by claiming to be a woman, entering the women's bathhouse, staying inside for about an hour, and peeping at the naked bodies of multiple unidentified women.

He was also indicted for entering another women's bathhouse in Dong-gu, Daegu, on November 23 of the same year, staying there for 3 hours and 20 minutes, and peeping at the naked bodies of multiple women.

Defendant has a prior record of receiving juvenile protective disposition for a sexual violence offense in 2016.

Judge Kim stated the reasoning for the sentencing, explaining, "The defendant intruded into women's bathhouses twice for the purpose of satisfying sexual desires, and it appears that numerous women were inside at the time of each crime. Furthermore, he committed another offense while already undergoing trial at this court for a prior case, failing to faithfully participate in the legal proceedings."
