A report that a glass window of a commercial building in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province, was damaged by a gunshot turned out to be caused by a golf ball that flew in from a building about 20 meters across the street, an investigation showed.

According to the Gwangmyeong Police Station, at around 6:30 p.m. on the 8th, the manager of a 7-story commercial building in Iljik-dong, Gwangmyeong, called 112 to report that someone had fired a gun and broken a window of the building.

At the time, the manager found the 7th-floor glass window damaged with a small circular hole and made the report.

However, upon checking the scene, responding police officers revealed that the incident was caused by a golf ball that flew from a building about 20 meters away on the opposite side.

Mr. A, who was inside an office on the 6th floor of the building across the street, reportedly stated to the dispatched police that the accident occurred while he mis-hit a ball during a swing practice.

The glass window of Mr. A's office was also damaged, but he stated that he was unaware the ball had flown to the building on the opposite side.

Police explained that they did not book Mr. A criminally as the building management and Mr. A agreed to proceed with damage compensation procedures.
