Voices of criticism emerged in succession from some members of the Democratic Party's mainstream faction today (the 14th) directed at Gyeonggi Province Governor Choo Mi-ae, who unleashed sharp remarks against President Lee Jae-myung while urging a resolute response to insurrection forces and other issues concerning prosecutorial reform.

Criticism followed that her remarks fueled internal division at a time when the administration is struggling with declining approval ratings, alongside bitter advice urging her to focus entirely on her duties as governor.

Appearing on the Democratic Party's official YouTube channel "Democratic Party TV" today, Representative Kim Min-seok pointed out, "There is a high possibility that people will not think of this as a remark from a veteran member of the Democratic Party."

Kim also stated, "If it is considered the remark of a responsible politician or governor of the Democratic Party, people will likely find it baffling," adding, "An explanation from Governor Choo herself seems necessary as to why she spoke in that manner."

Representative Song Young-gil also appeared on BBS Radio's "Jung Hye-seung's Morning Journal" and criticized, "Governor Choo has focused heavily on prosecutorial reform, which is likely why, but I hope she would be a bit more faithful to her duties as the governor of Gyeonggi Province."

Meanwhile, an atmosphere interpreting Governor Choo's remarks as a form of "self-serving politics" was also detected.

During an interview on KBS Radio's "Jeon-guk Sisa," Representative Kim Eui-kyeom emphasized, "I can guess why (Governor Choo) is speaking that way, but isn't the current situation rather difficult?" adding, "The only person who can untangle all of these issues is President Lee."

Representative Hwang Myung-sun, classified as a staunch pro-Lee Jae-myung faction member, showed the most furious reaction.

In a post uploaded to Facebook, Representative Hwang claimed, "Governor Choo's remarks crossed far beyond the line of loyal criticism that a metropolitan government head affiliated with the Democratic Party could make," and added, "She poured out harsh language against our President that is the sort of thing you'd hurl at Yoon Seok-yeol."

Hwang pointed out, "Judging by the intensity, timing, and manner of her remarks, we have no choice but to accept this as a provocation intended to shake the President and expand her own political standing."

On the other hand, Supreme Council Member Han Min-soo, a non-mainstream member of the pro-Chung Chung-rae faction, voiced a different tone during an on-site Supreme Council meeting held at the Democratic Party's Gangwon Provincial Party office in Chuncheon today.

Supreme Council Member Han stated, "It is time to inspect whether prosecutorial reform has been progressing properly and heading in the right direction, and whether judicial reform, media reform, and livelihood reform are moving in the directions and at the speeds we desire."

In light of these remarks, interpretations are emerging within the party that he sided with Governor Choo's assertion emphasizing strong prosecutorial reform.
