▲ Democratic Party of Korea Floor Leader Han Byung-do speaks regarding the leak of prosecution investigation records concerning Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won during a policy coordination meeting held at the National Assembly on the 10th.
Democratic Party Floor Leader Han Byung-do stated regarding the confirmation hearings for ministerial nominees, "We will verify qualifications to manage state affairs and policy capabilities with more responsibility than ever, and we will take a stern and resolute stance against groundless, false, and fabricated attacks."
Floor Leader Han emphasized this during the Supreme Council meeting held at the Gangwon Provincial Government Office in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, stating, "Now, the National Assembly's focus shifts to the confirmation hearings."
Targeting the People Power Party, he pointed out, "The regressive practices revealed during the interpellation and the preparation period for confirmation hearings must not be dragged into the hearing room," adding, "Regrettably, rather than who has the ability and qualifications to work for the people, who raises the most provocative suspicions is becoming the news."
He added, "Groundless raising of suspicions against nominees and digging into their family backgrounds are also problematic," and "Even if baseless accusations are repeated 100 times, false propaganda cannot become verification."
Regarding allegations raised by People Power Party lawmaker Joo Jin-woo against Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won, Floor Leader Han criticized, "They distorted service usage records of individuals with developmental disabilities as if they were the commuting records of the nominee's child, and even jumped to the conclusion that an institution selection process through public recruitment was a preferential treatment for family members, thereby conducting a public opinion drive."
He further urged, "I hope you bear in mind that corresponding responsibility follows those who raise suspicions."
Meanwhile, regarding Basic Income Party lawmaker Yong Hye-in stepping down from her nomination for Minister of Gender Equality and Family yesterday, Floor Leader Han stated, "I respect her decision, which heavily accepted the public's eye-level and sentiments."
