It has been confirmed that an intruder attempted to unlawfully enter the private residence of former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris.

According to local media outlets such as CNN on yesterday, an intruder trespassed onto the grounds of Harris's home located in Malibu, California, on the night of the 11th, but was intercepted by security personnel before managing to enter the house.

Following a report, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene and instructed the intruder to leave without making an arrest.

It was reported that Harris and her husband were not at home at the time of the incident.

Harris's spokesperson, Eduardo Negron, stated, "The two expressed their gratitude to the security personnel and law enforcement authorities who responded swiftly."

CNN noted that this incident occurred amid growing concerns over political violence in the United States, following multiple assassination attempts targeting President Donald Trump and the killing of Charlie Kirk.

Typically, U.S. presidents and vice presidents continue to receive protection from the U.S. Secret Service (USSS) after leaving office.

Presidents receive lifetime protection, while vice presidents are protected by the federal government for six months following the end of their term.

Although former President Joe Biden decided in January 2025 to extend the protection period for Vice President Harris to 18 months, President Trump rescinded it.

However, even if former President Biden's memorandum extending protection had remained in effect, it would have already concluded this summer, and it is believed it would not have prevented this trespassing incident.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has decided to step up patrols around the Malibu area as a preventive measure.
