Lee Seong-joo, a director at iMBC, has been nominated as the new president of MBC.

The Board of Directors of the Foundation for Broadcast Culture (FBC), MBC's largest shareholder, held a board meeting today where they conducted interview evaluations for the two final candidates, including nominee Lee and former Ulsan MBC President Jeon Dong-gun. Following a vote, nominee Lee was selected as the next president.

Nominee Lee will begin a three-year term once he is officially appointed as president at the MBC shareholders' meeting to be held tomorrow.

Nominee Lee joined MBC as a reporter in 1995 and served as the head of the MBC branch of the National Union of Media Workers from 2013 to 2015.

He subsequently served as the Director of Media Planning from 2020 to 2023, and has been serving as the management director of iMBC since 2024.

In accordance with the revised Broadcasting Act, this MBC presidential appointment process involved a 150-member Citizens' Recommendation Committee for Presidential Candidates, which reviewed policy presentations and conducted Q&A sessions with four candidates before recommending the final two candidates to the board.
