A man in his 20s who formerly worked as a manager has been arrested by police after seeking out a female internet broadcaster with whom he had a dispute and injuring her with a weapon.
The Gyeonggi Ansan Sangnok Police Station announced today (September 13) that it has requested an arrest warrant for a suspect identified as A on charges of special injury and preparation for murder.
A is accused of swinging a weapon at B, a female broadcaster on an internet platform, at a restaurant in Sangnok-gu, Ansan, at around 5:20 p.m. yesterday (September 12), inflicting a wound to her neck and pouring hot water on a part of her body.
A was caught red-handed and arrested at the scene by police who were dispatched following a report from a witness.
A had previously worked as a manager handling the chat room for B's broadcast. However, they reportedly had a falling out recently, quit the job, and subsequently engaged in disputes by exchanging insults in the broadcast chat room.
It was found that A plotted the crime out of resentment after B stated through a broadcast that she intended to file a complaint against A.
Police investigations revealed that A brought a weapon two days ago to protest at B's residence, and then followed B into a nearby restaurant when she fled there, committing the attack.
Police stated, "Judging that A committed the crime upon realizing that a complaint would be filed against him, we plan to review the application of retaliatory crime charges as well."
