Golfer Park Bo-gyeom has secured her fourth career victory by winning the KB Financial Star Championship (total purse of 1.5 billion KRW), the third major tournament of the Korea Women's Professional Golf (KLPGA) Tour.
Today (the 13th), Park shot a 1-under-par 71 with three birdies and two bogies during the final fourth round of the tournament held at Blackstone Icheon Golf Club in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province (par 72).
With a final score of 5-under-par 283, Park narrowly fended off Park Ye-ji, Bang Shin-sil, and Yoo Seo-yeon—who tied for second at 4-under-par 284—by a single stroke, claiming the championship trophy along with the winner's prize of 270 million KRW.
This marks Park's first win of the year and her fourth career victory, bringing the double joy of capturing her maiden major championship title.
Having joined the tour in September 2017, Park continued her unique streak of securing one win every year since 2023.
It was not an easy victory.
Starting the fourth round tied for second place and one stroke behind third-round leader Park Ye-ji, Park Bo-gyeom grabbed alternating birdies on the 1st and 3rd holes. However, bogies on the 5th and 7th holes stalled her momentum before she returned to under-par with a birdie on the 8th hole (par 4).
On the back nine, Park played steadily with bogey-free pars, ultimately sealing the victory.
The match was decided on the 16th hole (par 3).
As co-leader Yoo Seo-yeon missed a par putt and dropped a bogey, Park successfully saved par to take a one-stroke sole lead with two holes remaining, setting the stage for her victory.
The two players both recorded pars on the 17th hole (par 4).
On the final 18th hole (par 5), Yoo failed to sink her birdie putt and could not turn the game around, while Park successfully saved par to clinch the championship.
Meanwhile, Yoo Seo-yeon held the sole lead until the 13th hole (par 3) before committing two bogies on the 14th (par 4) and 16th holes. Finishing the day even-par at 72, she missed out on the opportunity to achieve her first-ever career win at a major tournament.
Seo Kyo-rim, who started the fourth round tied for sixth, recorded a 1-under-par 71 with four birdies and three bogies, finishing in fifth place overall with a final score of 3-under-par 285.
Kim Min-sol, partner in the Rim-Sol rivalry, struggled in the final round with a 3-over-par 75, wrapping up the tournament tied for 47th place with a final total of 9-over-par 297.
