Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Kim Dong-ah, who filed a complaint against independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon over allegations of leaking investigative data related to Minister of Justice nominee Kim Seung-won, appeared before the police today (the 13th).

The Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station summoned Rep. Kim today to conduct questioning as the complainant.

Previously, Lawmaker Han claimed that the prosecution, which investigated nominee Kim's so-called "suspicion of soliciting approval for new drug clinical trials," bowed to outside pressure and gave nominee Kim a suspension of indictment, while making public the "indictment plan" written by the prosecution's investigative team at the time.

Rep. Kim filed a complaint with the National Office of Investigation of the Korean National Police Agency on the 7th, alleging that Lawmaker Han leaked official secrets by making the indictment plan public, and the case was assigned to the Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station.

Before undergoing questioning, Rep. Kim met with reporters and claimed, "The accused lawmaker Han Dong-hoon claims he received the data through a public interest whistleblowing, but evidence acquired through a seizure and search is not material that a third party other than the prosecution, the defendant, or legal counsel can obtain."

"The police must thoroughly investigate from whom lawmaker Han Dong-hoon received these extensive investigative records," Rep. Kim added, "and we will definitely root out the rotten roots of political prosecutors who privatized investigative agencies and mocked the rule of law."

The Yeongdeungpo Police Station is also handling the case in which nominee Kim Seung-won was filed a complaint on charges including violations of the Political Funds Act and the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act in connection with the new drug clinical trial solicitation suspicion.
