Cheong Wa Dae stated that it "respects the decision" regarding the voluntary resignation of Minister of Gender Equality and Family nominee Yong Hye-in.

Senior Presidential Spokesperson Kang Yu-jung announced this through a press notice, stating, "We view that the nominee made the decision herself to reduce the burden on state affairs and people's livelihoods."

Spokesperson Kang added, "The necessary subsequent procedures will be carried out in accordance with established regulations," and "Cheong Wa Dae will do its utmost in verification and personnel selection to meet the public's expectations."

Nominee Yong was nominated for minister by President Lee Jae-myung on August 30.

Following controversies regarding holding concurrent positions as a proportional representation lawmaker and a minister, as well as debates over the so-called "privatization" of the Basic Income Party concerning its operation and composition methods, she stepped down from her nomination today, 14 days after being nominated.
