The LG Twins snapped their four-game losing streak, powered by Austin Dean's stellar performance with back-to-back home runs and three RBIs.
LG defeated the Samsung Lions 4-3 in an away game of the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League held at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu today (Sept. 12).
After Samsung took the lead in the second inning with Kang Min-ho's two-run homer to left, Austin fired up the offense.
He hit a solo shot to left in the third inning, followed by another solo home run to right in the fifth to tie the game at 2-2.
Bringing his season home run tally to 38, Austin narrowed the gap to just two behind the category leader Kim Do-young (KIA Tigers, 40 home runs).
In the eighth inning with one out and the bases loaded while trailing 3-2, Austin hit a single to center field that drove in a run.
LG then scored the winning run on Song Chan-ui's infield grounder with the bases still loaded.
LG's Ko Woo-suk, who took the mound in the sixth and pitched 1 and 2/3 innings with one run allowed (unearned), earned his first relief victory in 1,141 days since July 29, 2023, thanks to timely run support.
Meanwhile, league leaders KT Wiz cruised to their fifth consecutive victory by beating the KIA Tigers 6-2 in a home game in Suwon, pushing second-place Samsung down by one game.
KT seized control of the game in the fifth inning with one out and runners on first and second when Ahn Hyun-min hit an RBI single to left, knocking out KIA starting pitcher James Naile.
In the seventh inning, with one out and a runner on third, KT easily added a run on a passed ball by KIA catcher Kim Tae-gun, followed by a bases-loaded walk and a hit by Ryu Hyun-in to score two more, pulling away from KIA's reach.
KIA's No. 3 hitter Harold Castro and No. 4 hitter Na Sung-bum went hitless in four at-bats each, quietly fading.
Sixth-place NC Dinos defeated fifth-place Doosan Bears 10-9 in an away game at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, extending their winning streak to four games and closely chasing Doosan by two games.
Trailing 6-3 in the fifth inning, NC tied the game 6-6 with a two-run double to right-center by Kim 휘집 and a double down the right-field line by Park Kun-woo.
