As the practice match for the women's field hockey national team begins, a drone takes to the sky.

The AI tracks the movements of the players from the drone footage, displaying the distances between players and the spaces each must cover.

Previously, it was difficult to tell whether the gaps between players were properly maintained, but now they can be checked immediately through the AI analysis screen.

[Kim Ji-eung / Analysis Researcher, Korea Institute of Sport Science : By utilizing AI, we can use time more efficiently and generate (analysis footage) much faster.]

The players can check the analysis footage and immediately apply it to their next plays.

[Lee Yu-ri / Captain, Women's Field Hockey National Team : Since we can immediately find out how we need to move and how to take up good positioning....]

The head coach is also supplementing tactical analysis, which previously relied heavily on experience, with precise data.

[Kim Yong-soo / Head Coach, Women's Field Hockey National Team : It used to be done purely on the coach's intuition, but now, through this equipment, we can understand opponents in advance and devise customized strategies....]

At the shooting range, AI closely examines the posture of each and every athlete.

When an athlete stands at the firing line like this, artificial intelligence recognizes joint positions to analyze how stable the posture's angles and movements are.

At the same time, it detects changes in facial expressions to monitor moments when unusual reactions occur during the shooting process.

[Jang Gap-seok / General Manager, National Shooting Team : By measuring things like the movement of the gun's angle and the speed of the swing, we can deliver them to the coaching staff so they can be reflected for the athletes....]

In particular, AI plays a crucial role in checking whether athletes can maintain their movements during training that assumes distracting situations, such as applause and music from actual matches.

[Jang Tae-seok / Senior Research Fellow, Korea Institute of Sport Science : I think it has the advantage of being able to lead to the confidence of knowing that 'I am doing well now' based on objective data.]

AI is also being actively utilized in other sports for analyzing opponents.

AI added to the sweat of hard work is helping athletes hunt for medals.
