A family of four who were swimming off the coast of Uisin-myeon, Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do, fell into the water.

As a result of the accident, a mother in her 40s and her 4-year-old son were taken to the hospital in cardiac arrest and died.

Their 8-year-old son was rescued after holding onto a buoy in the sea and was transported to the hospital showing symptoms of hypothermia.

Their 8-year-old daughter managed to get out of the water on her own and asked people nearby for help after her family did not come out.

According to police investigations, it was found that the children drifted further away from the beach while swimming, prompting the mother to enter the water to save them, leading to the accident together.

It was reported that there were no safety personnel at the beach where the accident took place.

The Coast Guard is investigating the exact cause of the accident, believing that the family was swept away by an ebb tide while swimming.
