A son has been arrested by police after wielding a weapon against his mother.

The Incheon Ganghwa Police Station announced today (September 12) that it has arrested and is currently investigating a man in his 20s, identified as A, on charges of stabbing and injuring his mother in her 60s.

A is accused of attempting to murder his mother by stabbing her multiple times with a weapon at around 10 p.m. yesterday at a detached house in Naega-myeon, Ganghwa-gun, Incheon.

A's mother suffered injuries to her face and neck, but it has been confirmed that her life is not in danger.

According to the police investigation, A was found to be suffering from a mental illness.

Police stated that they plan to apply for an arrest warrant for A on charges of attempted patricide after concluding their investigation.
