National team forward Hwang Hee-chan recorded an assist in his debut match for German professional football club Schalke.

Hwang came on as a substitute in the 35th minute of the second half during an away match against Union Berlin for the 3rd round of the Bundesliga held today (the 12th) at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei in Berlin, assisting the team's decisive goal to secure a 3-1 victory.

During stoppage time in the second half, Hwang delivered a low cross from the right flank, which Maximilian Wöber finished with a right-footed shot to shake the back of the net.

This marks Hwang's "debut assist in his debut match" following his transfer from Wolverhampton (England) to Schalke right before the transfer window deadline on the 2nd.

Schalke, which had been limited to 1 draw and 1 loss, claimed their first win of the season and leaped to 7th place (with 4 points).

Schalke took the lead in the 25th minute of the first half with a goal scored by Robin Gosens with a left-footed volley from the left side of the goal.

Schalke extended their lead further with a goal by Adil Aouchiche in the 1st minute of the second half, and although they were chased down to a one-goal margin after conceding to Tim Skarke during stoppage time in the second half, Hwang sealed the victory by setting up the insurance goal.

A "Korean Derby" took place as Union Berlin features another Korean forward, Jeong Woo-yeong.

Jeong started the match and was substituted out in the 45th minute of the second half, failing to record an attacking point.
