People Power Party Representative Lee Jin-sook, who faced criticism for hosting a seminar distorting the May 18 Democratic Movement, has held another rally with a similar theme at the National Assembly. As a portrait resembling a funeral photograph of President Lee Jae-myung appeared at the event, strong criticism poured in from the pan-ruling bloc.

The rally was hosted by People Power Party Representative Lee Jin-sook in front of the main National Assembly building the day before yesterday (September 10).

Regarding the criticism she faced last month for hosting a seminar related to the May 18 Democratic Movement, Representative Lee repeatedly championed "freedom of speech."

However, the rally featured rampant conspiracy theories about election fraud and claims of North Korean military intervention during the May 18 movement.

One participant even set up a portrait resembling a funeral photograph of President Lee Jae-myung on one side of the rally site.

While Representative Lee's side explained that it was "unrelated to the organizers," the Democratic Party condemned her for repeating shameless acts, pointing out that using a sitting president's portrait as a rally prop happened right inside the National Assembly, of all places.

The Rebuilding Korea Party also urged the dismissal of Representative Lee, stating that the National Assembly is devolving into a playground for far-right forces.

The National Assembly Secretariat expressed deep regret, stating, "Distortions and defamation regarding May 18 are repeating, and the National Assembly is degenerating into a space of extreme hatred and conflict."

Following the submission of a disciplinary motion against Representative Lee to the National Assembly last month, the Democratic Party is now pushing for measures to expel her or suspend her membership qualifications.
