An international forum is set to take place in Jeju to discuss the future of the global energy transition, including renewable energy innovation utilizing artificial intelligence (AI), green hydrogen, and distributed energy.
Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 11th that it will co-host the "2026 Green Hydrogen Global Forum with Distributed Energy Forum" alongside the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment at the International Convention Center Jeju (ICC Jeju) from the 14th to the 16th.
Participants will include officials from the government, the National Assembly, domestic and international cities and regions, international organizations, hydrogen and energy companies, as well as universities and research institutes.
During the forum, 15 specialized sessions will be held covering technologies ranging from green hydrogen production, storage, transportation, utilization, and safety management, as well as clean hydrogen demand markets, renewable energy and power market innovations, and distributed energy.
In particular, the distributed energy session will discuss ways to stably operate Jeju's power market—which has a high proportion of renewable energy—and reduce the electricity cost burden on local residents.
Other sessions will cover real-time power markets, virtual power plants (VPPs), direct power transactions, vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology utilizing electric vehicle batteries, and energy storage systems (ESS).
Throughout the event, around 50 exhibition booths involving about 30 institutions and companies will be operated, along with public participation programs such as the "Green Hydrogen Future Generation Academy" for youths and young adults, and hands-on science experiences.
