The female baby giant panda born at Everland in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, on June 3 has been named "Shubao."

Everland announced today (the 11th) that the baby panda, marking its 100th day since birth, has officially been named Shubao following a public naming contest.

Everland explained that Shubao means "a treasure as bright as the dawn light."

Born to father Lebao and mother Aibao, following Fubao (2020) and twins Rui and Huibao (2023), she is the youngest member of the "Bao Family."

Over 10,000 people participated in the public naming event held by Everland to name the baby panda starting from July 13.

After a selection committee composed of zookeepers and veterinarians narrowed down the entries to five name candidates, a public vote was held. Out of a total of 220,000 votes, "Shubao" received 42% of the votes, securing its place as the final name.

Everland held a name announcement ceremony and a 100-day celebration party today at Panda World, attended by zoo executives and staff, pre-invited panda fans, and press reporters.

Shubao's weight, which was a mere 171g at birth, has increased more than 30 times to 5.5kg currently.

An Everland official said, "We are closely monitoring Shubao's growth process and considering plans to open her to the general public within this year after she goes through the process of adapting to the external environment."
