▲ Lee Seung-jin of the Breakers celebrates after securing victory in a full-set thriller.
The Breakers kicked off the third round of the professional billiards (PBA) team league on a high note by defeating Woori Financial Capital, the champion of the first round.
Meanwhile, NH Nonghyup Card halted Huons' fierce winning streak.
On the opening day of the Welcome Savings Bank PBA Team League Pohang Tour 2026-2027 held yesterday (the 10th) at the gymnasium of Pohang Sports Complex in Gyeongsangbuk-do, the Breakers edged out Woori Financial Capital 4-3 in a full-set battle.
Having suffered comprehensive 1-4 and 0-4 defeats to Woori Financial Capital in the previous first and second rounds, the Breakers secured their precious first victory in their third head-to-head match.
The Breakers took a 3-1 lead in set scores from the first to the fourth sets, but allowed a tie after dropping the fifth and sixth sets. However, team leader Lee Seung-jin clinched the victory in the final seventh set by defeating Lee Sang-dae 11-6.
NH Nonghyup Card, which holds the record for the most consecutive wins in team league history (14 straight wins), defeated Huons 4-1, putting an end to their opponent's relentless 10-match winning streak.
Although they had a shaky start by losing the first set 8-11, they subsequently claimed four consecutive sets to halt Huons' bid for an 11th straight win.
In particular, Kim Min-a played a pivotal role in both the second and fourth sets to lead her team to victory.
In other matches, Hana Card got off to a great start by sweeping SY 4-0, and Harim also defeated Crown Haitai 4-1.
High1 Resort beat Welcome Savings Bank 4-2, propelled by Lee Mi-rae's two match wins.
On the second day of the tournament (the 11th), matchups will continue starting with the NH Nonghyup Card versus Hana Card match at 12 PM, followed by Huons versus Crown Haitai and Woori Financial Capital versus High1 Resort (both at 3 PM), Harim versus the Breakers (6 PM), and SY versus Welcome Savings Bank (9 PM).
