Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball team Yomiuri Giants held a tribute with fans before their game to honor the late Korean-Japanese baseball legend Isao Harimoto, who passed away on September 9 at the age of 86.

Before their home game against the Chunichi Dragons at the Tokyo Dome on September 10, the Yomiuri Giants displayed news of Harimoto's passing on the electronic scoreboard, commemorating the legendary baseball figure together with their players and fans.

The Yomiuri Giants wrote on their official Instagram account, "We offer our highest respects to the greatest hitter in professional baseball history, and hold a moment of silence filled with gratitude and condolences."

The Meikyukai, an association of current and former Japanese professional baseball players, announced on September 10 that Harimoto, who recorded a Japanese professional baseball record 3,085 hits and 504 home runs, passed away on the afternoon of September 9.

Harimoto played actively as a professional from 1959 to 1981 for the Nippon Ham Fighters, Yomiuri Giants, and Lotte Orions.

At Yomiuri, he served as the team's 39th cleanup hitter (number four batter) and was deeply beloved as part of the "OH" duo—a combination of the first initials of Sadaharu Oh and Harimoto—alongside home run king Sadaharu Oh.
