Don Spike shared through his social media on the 10th, "Hello after a long time. I have spent time reflecting on my past life while repenting for the mistakes I made four years ago," adding, "It was a precious time to determine how I will live the rest of my life so that I do not repeat the same mistakes."

He also added, "With the help of good people, I am preparing for a new start in Gampo, a beautiful coastal area in Gyeongju," and "I will do my best to ensure I do not disappoint the expectations and support of many people."

He had previously hinted at opening a restaurant on the 9th by revealing a photo of a signboard bearing his own name.

Don Spike, who was previously loved by the public as a meat expert, was caught red-handed in September 2022 at a hotel in Gangnam, Seoul, on charges of possessing and using philopon (methamphetamine). He was sent to trial on charges including purchasing approximately 45 million won worth of philopon across nine instances from December 2021 and administering it 14 times. He was also charged with handing over philopon and ecstasy to others on seven occasions and possessing about 20 grams of philopon. It was confirmed that he had a prior record for similar offenses, causing a major shock.

After being sentenced to two years in prison and completing his sentence in March 2025, Don Spike is set to return to the food service industry, ending his period of self-reflection through the opening of this Gyeongju restaurant.
