Yong Hye-in, nominee for Minister of Gender Equality and Family, has announced that she will stop commuting to her office and review materials from her home, just eight days after beginning preparations for her confirmation hearing.

The preparation team for the confirmation hearing of the nominee for Minister of Gender Equality and Family announced this morning (September 10), "The nominee does not plan to report to the office today."

Instead of the confirmation hearing preparation office set up in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, Nominee Yong plans to prepare for the hearing by reviewing materials requested by the National Assembly from her home.

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family reportedly explained that Nominee Yong conveyed her stance the previous night that she would review materials from home without commuting, adding that this is not an expression of her intent to step down.

Since sharing her thoughts on her nomination on her first commute on September 2, Nominee Yong has not offered any particular explanations regarding various suspicions, including the controversy over holding concurrent positions as a minister.

Even during her commute yesterday, when reporters asked questions about the issue of concurrent positions and suspicions surrounding a family-run political party, she only responded, "I will explain in detail at the confirmation hearing."

Meanwhile, the police plan to conduct questioning of the complainant at 2:00 PM today regarding the filed complaint concerning suspicions of preferential salary treatment for Nominee Yong's spouse.
