Apple has unveiled its first foldable iPhone model, the "iPhone Duo."

Apple's newly appointed CEO, John Ternus, introduced the iPhone Duo for the first time on the 9th local time at Apple Park in Cupertino, California.

The iPhone Duo features a 5.4-inch display when folded and expands to 7.6 inches when opened, making it roughly the size of a passport.

It has a similar form factor to Samsung Electronics' "Galaxy Z Fold 8," which was introduced in July.

When unfolded, the iPhone Duo supports multitasking by running different apps on each of the dual screens.

It also supports Apple Pencil handwriting, a feature previously limited to the iPad.

However, Face ID, the facial recognition unlocking feature, is not included; instead, Touch ID, the fingerprint recognition feature, has been applied.

It is equipped with the latest "A20 Pro" mobile chip for iPhones and Apple's proprietary communication chip "C2," while preventing performance throttling through thermal management, including the installation of a vapor chamber.

The 256GB model of the iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 (approximately 2.69 million won), while its retail price in South Korea has been set at 3.29 million won.

The company explained that this reflects value-added tax and exchange rate volatility.

Pre-orders will begin on October 16, and purchases at stores will be available starting on the 23rd.

However, Apple did not announce the specific launch countries for the iPhone Duo during the event.

On this day, Apple also unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro series, AirPods 5 wireless earphones, Apple Watch Series 12, and Apple Watch Ultra 4.
