We previously reported that a body was found in a freezer at a cafe in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. It has now been revealed that the freezer was transported and installed a week before the incident. Police are accelerating their investigation, including booking an additional man who drove the female victim from Seoul to Paju on the day of the incident.

A large freight truck drives down an alleyway carrying a massive white container.

About five hours later, the truck returns empty.

On August 27, a man in his 30s surnamed Shin, the suspect in the Paju freezer murder case, brought the container-style freezer into the cafe a week before the incident occurred.

Residents said they found the sudden appearance of the freezer puzzling.

[Nearby Resident: We were puzzled too. It wasn't there at all. But we wondered why they brought in a freezer...]

The 50 billion won worth of counterfeit department store gift certificates found alongside the body of a woman in her 60s inside the freezer were reportedly ordered by Shin after visiting a printing shop last July, claiming they were needed for a movie shoot.

Police have booked another man, A, on charges related to the counterfeiting of the gift certificates.

Man A reportedly picked up the female victim in his car in Seoul on the day of the incident, dropped her off in Paju, and after that, the victim boarded the vehicle of cafe owner Shin.

Man A was also the person who notified the family that evening that they could not get in touch with the victim.

Police have grasped circumstances indicating that man A was involved in the production and transaction of the counterfeit gift certificates and are verifying his specific role.

As suspect Shin gave false statements regarding the victim's whereabouts while she was considered missing, throwing the investigation into confusion, the police are examining the credibility of the statements through smartphone forensics and other methods.

Amid the spread of the personal identity and photos of Shin, the suspect in this case, through social media, attention is also gathering on whether the police will disclose his identity.
