President Lee, who is making a state visit to France, made the remarks while explaining the reason for his heavy overseas travel schedule early in his term during a meeting with Korean residents.

The remarks are interpreted as a rebuttal to claims by the conservative opposition and others suggesting the possibility of pushing for a constitutional amendment to allow consecutive terms for the president.
