Treasury yields closed mostly higher today (September 9).
In the Seoul bond market today, the yield on 3-year Treasury bonds closed at 3.910%, up 0.9 bp (1 bp = 0.01 percentage point) from the previous trading day.
This marks the third consecutive session of increases, reaching the highest level since July 24 (3.959%).
The yield on 10-year bonds remained unchanged at 4.401%.
The 5-year and 2-year yields rose by 0.9 bp and 1.2 bp, respectively, finishing at 4.136% and 3.733%.
The 20-year yield fell 0.9 bp to 4.551%.
The 30-year and 50-year yields rose 0.6 bp and 0.3 bp, respectively, recording 4.641% and 4.546%.
Foreign investors net sold 9,952 3-year treasury futures and 2,141 10-year treasury futures today.
Treasury yields rose today due to the impact of rising oil prices amid cautious sentiment ahead of the release of the U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) for August, scheduled for the 11th (Korea time).
On the 9th local time, the closing price for Brent crude futures for November delivery rose 0.92 dollars (0.95%) from the previous session to 97.92 dollars per barrel, and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures for October delivery rose 1.55 dollars (1.69%) to 93.03 dollars per barrel.
