Multiple explosions were heard on Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf, a core hub for Iran's crude oil exports, according to reports by Iran's semi-official Mehr News Agency on the 8th local time.
The agency reported that "several explosions were heard in some parts of Kharg Island a few minutes ago."
However, specific details regarding the cause of the explosions or the scale of the damage have not yet been mentioned.
According to the agency, explosions were also heard in Jask, located in the southern province of Hormozgan.
Kharg Island is home to the country's primary critical infrastructure, which handles the vast majority of Iran's total crude oil exports.
Local media reports of unexplained explosions on Kharg Island have continued recently.
