A power outage occurred in apartment complexes across Geumho-dong and Haengdang-dong in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, at around 8:00 p.m. today (September 8), causing inconvenience to residents for about two hours.

According to firefighting authorities and other sources, the outage affected an apartment complex with around 850 households in Geumho-dong and another with around 450 households in Haengdang-dong.

Fire authorities rescued residents who were trapped in elevators due to the blackout and wrapped up the operation at around 10:00 p.m.

Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) stated that the blackout was caused by damage to power lines during nearby water supply construction work, and that necessary restoration measures have been completed.
