Ulsan HD, currently second in K League 1, has put the brakes on FC Seoul's winning streak as Seoul pursued its first title in 10 years.

Ulsan defeated Seoul 1-0 thanks to a late-game winning goal by Shim Sang-min in the away match of the Hana Bank K League 1 2026 Round 28 held at the Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium today (the 8th).

With 44 points, second-place Ulsan narrowed the gap with runaway leaders Seoul (59 points) to 15 points, keeping alive their slim hopes of a dramatic comeback title.

Ulsan secured their second consecutive win against Seoul following their away match victory on July 26, taking the upper hand in their head-to-head season record with two wins and one loss.

This marks Ulsan's first consecutive victories against Seoul in 1,213 days, since May 14, 2023.

Although Seoul's five-game winning streak was snapped, they still remain in a strong position to win the championship.

If they secure 16 or more points in their remaining 10 matches, they will claim the title on their own terms.

It was a back-and-forth battle.

Built on a solid three-man defensive line and aggressive high pressing, Ulsan created slightly more decisive chances.

In the 38th minute of the first half, Lee Jin-hyun intercepted the ball on the right and sent a long pass to trigger Ulsan's counterattack.

Erik, breaking down the right flank, passed to Lee Dong-gyung, who was rushing in on the left, but Lee Dong-gyung's left-footed shot was blocked by the goalkeeper.

Ulsan, who had been knocking on the door more frequently, finally broke the deadlock through Lee Dong-gyung's sharp left foot.

In the 38th minute of the second half, Lee Dong-gyung delivered a sharp cross from the left toward the head of Shim Sang-min, who was rushing into the right side of the penalty area.

Shim Sang-min found the back of the net with a header.

This is Shim Sang-min's first goal for Ulsan since joining the club in 2024 and spending the 2025 season on loan at Gwangju FC.

Lee Dong-gyung recorded an assist in his second consecutive match against Seoul.

Extending his tally to 9, the league's top assist provider widened the gap with second-place Kim Dae-won (Gangwon) to two.

Lee Dong-gyung, who has scored 9 goals, also stands alone at the top of the league's offensive point rankings with 18 points.

After scoring, Shim Sang-min took off his shirt in front of the supporter section to celebrate joyfully, subsequently receiving a yellow card.

At the Incheon Football Stadium, Incheon United came from behind to beat Bucheon FC 2-1, snapping a three-match winless run (one draw and two losses) and jumping to sixth place (37 points).

Bucheon remained in 10th place (31 points) as their winless streak extended to four matches (one draw and three losses).

Incheon deployed Mugosa and Perrier at the vanguard of their attack, while Bucheon countered with a three-pronged front line of Galego, Gustavo, and Bassani. Both sides traded early blows through goals from their foreign players in a tight first half.

In the 33rd minute of the first half, Bucheon's Galego opened the scoring to seize the initiative.

Capitalizing on a touch mistake by Incheon defender Kim Myung-soon, Galego launched a counterattack and rapidly dribbled deep into the penalty area before unleashing a left-footed shot for his 9th league goal of the season.

Incheon responded with Mugosa's equalizer in the 43rd minute of the first half.

Leandro broke down the left flank, cleverly dribbled past a defender, and delivered a low cross that Mugosa finished cleanly with his left foot from the center of the penalty area.

Making his 200th career K League 1 appearance, Mugosa netted his 11th goal of the season and the 97th of his K League 1 career.

The comeback winner came from the foot of Incheon defender Juan Ibiza in the 25th minute of the second half.

Following a corner kick, the loose ball was headed on by Lee Min-hyuk and Lee Myung-joo, and Juan Ibiza struck it fiercely with his left instep for his 3rd goal of the season, securing a precious 3 points for Incheon.
