Cheong Wa Dae stated that reports claiming the Democratic Party leadership conveyed an "unqualified opinion" to the presidential office regarding Gender Equality and Family Minister nominee Yong Hyein are "completely untrue."

A Cheong Wa Dae official said on this day, "Cheong Wa Dae has not received any request from the ruling party leadership to withdraw or resign [the nomination of nominee Yong]," and made this clear.

Earlier, a media outlet reported on the same day that Democratic Party Leader Kim Min-seok conveyed negative public sentiment regarding nominee Yong's appointment while seeing off President Lee Jae-myung, who left for a state visit to France on the 6th.

In response, Leader Kim also stated during the party's official YouTube channel "Minjoo TV" that the report was "fake news" and "an over-the-top sci-fi novel."

Leader Kim remarked on this day, "Everyone knows there are various opinions inside and outside the party," adding, "While I could potentially synthesize those opinions and convey them [to Cheong Wa Dae], anyway, reporting that it was conveyed like that at the airport is different from the facts."
