President Lee Jae-myung, who is on a state visit to France, met with Charles Rivkin, Chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Association (MPA), on the 7th local time in Saint-Paul-de-Vence near Nice, marking the final schedule of the Lumière Summit, a film and video summit.

The meeting was also attended by delegations from major U.S. media companies, including Netflix, Disney, Sony, and NBCUniversal, as well as CJ Group Vice Chairwoman Miky Lee.

During the meeting, President Lee said, "South Korea is showing a remarkable presence in the cultural sector, and I am here to explain the reasons behind it."

He added, "South Korea's democracy has developed to a level that surpasses almost anywhere else in the world. There is no other country in the world that has achieved democratization and economic growth simultaneously and so rapidly," explaining that the advancement of democracy has had a positive impact on culture.

He went on to say, "Koreans are exceptionally skilled with their hands, and such meticulousness must have served as a great foundation," adding, "We excel greatly at activities that use the hands, such as archery and golf."

President Lee urged investment, stating, "Moving forward, the government will actively support the production of works in South Korea. There will be no difficulties regarding production costs in South Korea."

In response, Chairman Rivkin stated, "South Korea is leaping forward as a creative powerhouse through smart policies and openness, and it is our core partner," according to Kang Yu-jung, Senior Presidential Spokesperson, during a briefing.
