Amid various allegations surrounding Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won and Gender Equality and Family Minister nominee Yong Hye-in, Cheong Wa Dae has stated its principled stance that they must undergo confirmation hearings.

Speaking to reporters in Paris on the 7th (local time) while accompanying President Lee Jae-myung on his state visit to France, a Cheong Wa Dae official said, "We understand that the personnel hearing system itself is a process of public verification for candidates," adding, "Since they are candidates nominated through the personnel system under the responsibility of the chairperson of the personnel committee, they should go through the confirmation hearings."

This is interpreted as maintaining a principled stance to observe the confirmation hearings and evaluate their suitability and public opinion, even as the opposition bloc intensifies its verification offensive against the two nominees.

The official also mentioned, "We will establish and strengthen the personnel verification system so that it meets the public's expectations."

However, regarding some media reports claiming that "the Democratic Party leadership conveyed opinions regarding Yong's unsuitability to Cheong Wa Dae," the official stated, "Nothing has been specifically confirmed."
