President Lee Jae-myung, who is currently making a state visit to France, departed from the southern French city of Nice for the capital, Paris, at around 6:30 p.m. local time.
President Lee will hold a summit with French President Emmanuel Macron tonight (September 8) Korea time.
During the summit, the leaders of the two countries are expected to discuss cooperation in cutting-edge industries such as artificial intelligence and security cooperation regarding the deployment of troops to the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier, a high-ranking official from the Cheong Wa Dae hinted at the possibility of a discussion between the two leaders, stating, "France was the first country to actively move toward an international coalition for the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and has been consulting with us."
In addition, President Lee is scheduled to attend a business round table involving around 20 business leaders from both countries.
