Singer EVAN (24), who left the group ENHYPEN, has directly explained the reasons behind his transition into a solo artist.
On the 7th at 2 p.m., EVAN held a press showcase for the release of his first mini-album "DEATH OF ME" at the Grand Peace Palace of Kyung Hee University in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, where he performed the title track of the same name. He shared his overwhelming feelings ahead of his official promotions, stating, "I am thrilled to present my first stage. I hope this album reaches the hearts of many people."

EVAN left ENHYPEN last March, six years after debuting with the group, and changed his stage name from HEESEUNG to EVAN. He made a fresh start as a solo artist last June by releasing the digital single "RIDE OR DIE."
Regarding the process of transitioning to a solo career, EVAN said, "While making music over the years, I thought a lot about how I should present it. After sharing the results of my work with the company staff and having discussions, I decided to walk the path of a solo artist after long consideration."
He continued, "Thanks to everyone, I finished my first promotions, and I am overwhelmed with emotion to be able to safely make a comeback with my first mini-album, which is more than I deserve. Actually, this is both a comeback and a new starting point. I think I will be able to show various sides of myself, and I will make sure to return what has been given to me through music."
The first mini-album contains a total of eight tracks, including his debut single. Explaining the album overall, EVAN stated, "This album is about taking the reins of various emotions and moving forward. My ideas were reflected throughout the entire album. The most important thing was to capture my honest inner self. Many staff members helped me in the process of realizing that," adding, "It became an album that encompasses that entire process."

EVAN described the album in one word as a "mirror." He said, "It gives the feeling of facing oneself. When you listen to the album and the songs, there is fear, but it also contains honest and raw stories about wanting to move forward. I used the expression 'mirror' because I think it reflects my inner self."
Regarding the regrets surrounding his departure, EVAN said, "First, I want to express my deep gratitude to those who send me interest and affectionate voices. Although it was a decision made after deep discussion during the process of going solo, I deeply understand the disappointment and concerns voiced by fans." He added, "I think the greatest way to repay this is by showing it through my music and sincere actions as EVAN. I will continue to work hard to become an artist who presents even more cool and good influence."
It was reported that protest emails and concerned opinions were also sent to the press during this process. Regarding this, EVAN apologized, saying, "Regarding that part, I would like to express my deep apologies for causing disruptions to work."
Describing the title track, EVAN said, "It is a song that captures my strong determination standing at a new starting line. While preparing the digital single, there were many times when I reached my musical limits." He explained, "You can refer to my documentary, but doing push-ups, running, and practicing choreography repeatedly—capturing the determination to overcome those limits is what this title track is about."
Regarding his future goals, he added, "My big goal in my own way is to stand on larger and more stages. If I can show my performances in many places, and if people become interested, pay attention to my stories, and listen to my album, I think I will be able to well convey the ultimate message I hold. I think it is an important calling for me to give people the strength to overcome difficult and exhausting situations through music."
EVAN's first mini-album "DEATH OF ME" will be released through various music sites at 6 p.m. today.
