Police have launched an investigation into a mixed martial arts fighter with a former organized crime background who choked a guest unconscious during a YouTube broadcast and left him unattended.

The Incheon Seobu Police Station announced today (Sept. 7) that it is investigating a 36-year-old MMA fighter, identified as A, on charges of assault causing bodily injury.

At 4 a.m. the previous day, Fighter A choked a man in his 20s, identified as B, into unconsciousness using a guillotine choke technique at an officetel in Cheongna-dong, Seo-gu, Incheon.

Although B lost consciousness after his head struck the floor hard, A slapped both cheeks and left him unattended, telling others to "let him sleep it off."

The assault was broadcast live on YouTube, prompting viewers to post comments such as, "Shouldn't someone call 119?" and "An athlete shouldn't use such techniques on an ordinary citizen."

Upon encountering the video, police initiated an investigation and booked A. They plan to continue additional inquiries while contacting the victim's side.

B is currently receiving inpatient treatment at a hospital and has reportedly shown symptoms of partial paralysis in his body.

B was reportedly a viewer of the YouTube channel who had been in contact with the YouTuber before visiting the officetel.

A was previously affiliated with an organized crime group managed by the police, but is known to have been removed from the management list.

A police official stated, "We plan to proceed with the investigation while monitoring the victim's condition," adding, "We will also check whether people who were around during the YouTube broadcast conspired in the crime."
