Director Na Hong-jin, who helmed the movie HOPE, has been named one of the 30 most influential genre filmmakers by a U.S. entertainment media outlet.

He was the only Korean director to be included on the list.

Recently, the U.S. entertainment outlet The Hollywood Reporter selected 30 of the most influential directors in genre filmmaking.

While director Ryan Coogler, who directed Sinners, and director Guillermo del Toro of The Shape of Water were among those chosen, director Na Hong-jin was ranked 27th.

The Hollywood Reporter introduced director Na as a South Korean master who has built an international fan base.

Mentioning his new film HOPE, the outlet reported that it is the first of director Na's films to receive a wide theatrical release in the United States.

HOPE, which opens in the U.S. on the 9th, is scheduled to be screened in 1,500 local theaters.
