Pro football club Gangwon FC, overcoming a depleted squad due to national team call-ups, secured its first victory against FC Anyang in the regular league in 10 years.

Managed by Jung Kyung-ho, Gangwon secured a 3-0 clean-sheet victory over Anyang with consecutive goals from Karim, Keonhee, and Mo Jae-hyun in the Hana Bank KLeague 1 2026 Round 27 away match held today (the 6th) at Anyang Stadium.

This marks Gangwon's first-ever win against Anyang in the KLeague 1 stage.

From last year when Anyang was promoted to KLeague 1 until this year, Gangwon recorded 2 draws and 3 losses in their five previous head-to-head matches.

Including KLeague 2 matches, this is their first win in a staggering 10 years, since a 3-0 home victory against Anyang on September 28, 2016.

Breaking a three-match winless run (2 draws, 1 loss) with today's victory, Gangwon reached 40 points (10 wins, 10 draws, 6 losses) and climbed one spot to fourth place.

Anyang, which had a turbulent week following manager Yoo Byung-hoon's expression and subsequent retraction of his intention to resign, remained in eighth place with 34 points (8 wins, 10 draws, 9 losses).

Gangwon suffered a significant blow to its lineup as central defenders Lee Ki-hyuk and Minha, along with midfielder Lee Seung-won, were called up for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games national team.

Compounding the crisis with Song Jun-seok's enlistment, Hong Chul's suspension, and Gang Touji's injury on top of the Asian Games call-ups, Gangwon's defense collapsed. As a desperate measure, the team fielded a back three consisting of Karim, Seo Min-woo, and Park Ho-young to face Anyang.

Karim, who was signed by Gangwon in late June, had previously started in a Korea Cup match but made his delayed KLeague debut today.

And Karim made an immediate impact.

In the 20th minute of the first half during a free-kick opportunity in the center of the opponent's midfield, Kim Dong-hyun rolled the ball backward with the sole of his foot, and Karim struck a low left-footed shot that nestled right into the bottom right corner of Anyang's net.

Seizing his first KLeague appearance opportunity driven by team circumstances, Karim even scored his debut goal and celebrated with a spectacular backflip.

Karim's goal also served as the match-winning goal.

Gangwon widened the gap further 10 minutes into the second half.

Receiving a pass from Jesse on the opponent's left flank, Mo Jae-hyun delivered a cross from the left side of the penalty area toward the goalmouth, where Keonhee soared between two defenders and headed it in.

It was Keonhee's first goal of this season.

Four minutes later, Mo Jae-hyun intercepted the ball following a defensive blunder by Anyang and calmly finished with a right-footed shot in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper to seal the victory.

Mo Jae-hyun contributed significantly to Gangwon's victory with one goal and one assist.

Park Chung-hyo recorded his 12th clean sheet of the season.

At Gimcheon Stadium, the home team Gimcheon Sangmu and Gwangju FC ended in a 2-2 draw.

Gimcheon applied intense pressure from the start, stealing balls in the opponent's half and creating scoring opportunities.

In the 26th minute of the first half, Ko Jae-hyun delivered a short cross from the right, which Kim Yi-seok finished with a right foot at the goalmouth to open the scoring.

In the 9th minute of the second half, after Lee Kun-hee's header hit the goalpost and bounced out, Ko Jae-hyun, lurking right on the right side of the goal area where the ball fell, connected with a sharp right-footed shot to ripple the net.

This is Ko Jae-hyun's 7th goal of the season, showcasing his exceptional positional sense.

Ko Jae-hyun also cemented his status as a "Gwangju killer" by scoring in all three matches Gimcheon has played against Gwangju this year.

Gwangju did not sit back either.

Led by foreign attackers, they scored consecutive goals to level the match.

In the 21st minute of the second half, Jung Ji-hoon slightly deflected a cross sent by Ba Loua from the right, sending the ball's trajectory toward the left side of the goal.

Yidle, surging toward the goalmouth, put his right foot on it to score Gwangju's chase goal.

Subsequently, Fridjonsson, who was substituted in the 14th minute of the second half, received a pass sent from the back in the center of the goal area in the 33rd minute, overpowered an opposing defender through sheer strength, and unleashed a left-footed shot to make it 2-2.

Having completely turned the flow of the match around, Gwangju failed to overturn the result entirely and secure their second win of the season.

For Gwangju, it was regrettable that Jung Ji-hoon's close-range volley in the 38th minute of the second half hit the crossbar and bounced out.

Gimcheon remained in 11th place (28 points), while Gwangju stayed at the very bottom in 12th place (13 points).

Failing to win a single game for 25 consecutive matches (9 draws, 16 losses) since their Round 2 match against Incheon United, Gwangju tied the record for the most consecutive winless games combined across KLeague 1 and 2.

Previously, Goyang Zaicro in the 2016 KLeague 2 failed to win across 25 consecutive matches, recording 8 draws and 17 losses.
