Choi Ye-rim, who had finished as the runner-up nine times in domestic women's professional golf, has claimed her long-awaited first victory in her 239th tournament.

Starting the day as the sole leader with a three-stroke advantage, Choi shaved three strokes off her score on the front nine to widen her lead to six strokes, bringing victory within reach.

However, her shots wavered on the back nine, where she dropped two strokes and saw her lead shrink to just one stroke, briefly reviving fears of her runner-up jinx.

Staying calm, she successfully saved par on the final hole to edge out Lim Hee-jeong by a single stroke and finally reach the top of the leaderboard.

After experiencing nine runner-up finishes over her eight years since debut, Choi secured her maiden win in her 239th event, soaking in the joy amid a refreshing water shower from her fellow players.
