Starting as the central striker in an away match against Real Salt Lake, Son assisted his close teammate Bouanga's opening goal with a precise counter-attack pass in the 14th minute of the first half. He then switched roles in the 38th minute of the first half, connecting on a pass from Bouanga with a powerful left-footed shot to find the back of the net.
