A wildfire broke out at a mountain in Muan-gun, South Jeolla-Gwangju, prompting authorities to launch firefighting operations.

A report of the wildfire was received at around 11:10 a.m. today (September 6) in Haje-myeon, Muan-gun, South Jeolla-Gwangju.

The Korea Forest Service deployed 1 helicopter, around 10 vehicles, and about 30 personnel, extinguishing the fire in 1 hour and 40 minutes with no casualties reported.

Forest authorities believe the fire spread while trash was being burned near a bamboo grove and are currently investigating the exact scale of the damage.
