Spanish professional football club Atlético Madrid suffered their first defeat of the season amid Lee Kang-in's misfortune of hitting the goalpost.

Atlético lost 0-3 in their away match against Athletic Club (Bilbao) for the 4th round of the 2026-2027 La Liga season held at San Mamés in Bilbao, Spain, on the 6th (KST).

Lee Kang-in, who started for the third consecutive match, flashed his right foot just two minutes into the first half.

Playing as a right winger in a 4-4-2 formation, Lee fought off a defender on the right side of the penalty area and unleashed a right-footed shot, but the ball hit the left goalpost and bounced out.

In the 23rd minute of the first half, a shot by Álex Baena, who received a forward pass from Lee, went straight to the goalkeeper, failing to result in Atlético's opening goal once again.

Despite his light movements and failure to record an attacking point, Lee was substituted off for Julián Álvarez in the 14th minute of the second half while the team was trailing 0-2.

Lee has recorded 1 goal and 1 assist in the league this season.

Atlético collapsed by conceding consecutive goals right at the start of the second half.

Bilbao took the lead just one minute into the second half with a header by Nico Williams, and two minutes later, Robert Navarro made it 2-0 with a left-footed shot following an assist from Iñaki Williams during a counterattack.

Bilbao put the finishing touch on their resounding victory when Oihan Sancet finished off a clearance by an Atlético defender in the 45th minute of the second half with a right-footed shot that rippled the net.

Suffering their first defeat of the season, Atlético remained in 7th place with 7 points (2 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss).

The gap with the top tier is 2 points.
