German space startup Isar Aerospace successfully placed a commercial rocket into orbit on the 5th (local time), marking a first for the European continent.

According to Reuters, Isar successfully launched its uncrewed rocket, Spectrum, from the Andøya Space Center in the Arctic Circle of Norway, successfully entering orbit.

Spectrum is designed for transporting small and medium-sized payloads. This launch carried five small satellites and technical experimentation equipment for in-flight testing.

Isar celebrated the achievement on X, stating, "We have reached orbit and made European history."

Following a failed first launch attempt from the same launch site in March of last year, Isar succeeded in reaching orbit on its second try.

Europe has previously relied on the Guiana Space Centre in French Guiana or U.S.-based SpaceX for satellite launches.

This successful launch is regarded as a significant milestone for Europe to expand its domestic satellite launch capabilities within the region.
