A fire broke out at a fishing tackle warehouse building in Ojeon-dong, Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province, at around 2:10 p.m. today (Sept. 5).

Emergency authorities dispatched 23 pieces of equipment and 69 personnel to the scene following a report from a witness, bringing the major flames under control within 37 minutes.

The fire left one man in his 50s with minor injuries from smoke inhalation, and he was transported to a hospital. It was also confirmed that 14 people inside the building evacuated on their own.

As smoke spread due to the fire, the city of Uiwang sent an emergency text message to nearby residents, urging them to move away from the fire site and detour their vehicles.

Police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact scale of the damage and the cause of the fire once it is completely extinguished.
