Father in Cardiac Arrest After Saving Son from Valley, Another Man Also Hospitalized

At around 10:32 a.m. today (September 5), a man in his 40s who tried to rescue his elementary school-aged son from drowning in a valley in Bugok-ri, Geunnam-myeon, Uljin-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and another man in his 40s who rushed to help, were rescued in cardiac arrest.

According to fire authorities and witnesses, the boy was playing in the valley when he was swept away by the current, prompting his father and another man to jump in to rescue him.

After rescuing the child, the two men fell into cardiac arrest in the water. They were rescued by emergency response teams and transported to a hospital.

The child is reportedly safe.

Earlier at around 10:29 a.m., a report was received that people were unable to get out of the water near the coast in Mangyang-ri, Giseong-myeon, Uljin-gun.

Rescue workers dispatched to the scene pulled two men in their 50s from the water in cardiac arrest and transported them to a hospital.

Police and fire authorities are investigating the exact circumstances of both accidents based on statements from witnesses.
